About Foretype
Foretype accelerates text input by analyzing what you are typing and predicting what you will most likely write next. Foretype's guess is shown as a tooltip, which can be inserted by pressing either the TAB or ENTER keys.
If people can finish your sentences - now your computer can do the same. Foretype makes the fine art of prediction work for you. As you type, Foretype will predict the word you are most likely to be typing and offer a shortcut to the next letters.
A lot of people spend their time entering different textual information into computers. State of the art in this process is touch typing. If you want to type faster, you have to learn to press keys faster. But typing fast is hard to master, and puts a lot of strain on your hands. The other way to type faster is to enter more text with the same number of key presses. Your computer could guess what are you going to type, and propose a shortcut to enter the whole word or even a couple of words in just one click. This is what Foretype does. Having analyzed enormous amounts of text, Foretype is able to predict the most probable continuation for many phrases.
Foretype employs proven data compression methods used in popular archivers like WinZip. But instead of compressing, Foretype predicts the future with these methods. Foretype learns offline and uses ready-made answers online to increase performance and reduce memory consumption. Prediction quality depends on the amount of text used for learning. Foretype v1.2 has analyzed over 2GB of English text before it was released. With Foretype, you can see how information compression works and where our language is redundant.
